Posh – Lee on that Crazy Game!

I had to laugh when I heard that Charlie Lee had played a prominent part in both areas early in the second half at Whaddon Road.

I`ve always had a soft spot for Charlie, he`s my type of player and when he made amends for the penalty he conceded by scoring with a header it brought a wry smile to my face.

Whilst the Cheltenham players may insist that Charlie used a few rough house tactics in scoring with the header Charlie is keen to play matters down suggesting in an interview with a local paper,

‘That’s nonsense. I got up early and I certainly didn’t use their player to reach the ball.”

‘Normally those headers go into the crowd, but I caught this one perfectly and it was a relief to score after conceding the penalty.”

With regards to the penalty, Lee, as honest as the day is long commented,

‘I had to make a tackle on their player, but I caught him and it was really frustrating to concede an equaliser after we had dominated the first-half.”

Such is life, these things happen but like Lee enthuses, it was great to see Posh go on to register a convincing win,

‘We should have been more than one ahead at half-time, but we knew we were always going to get chances as the game was so open.”

‘Luckily we kept our noses in front throughout and we were well worth the win in the end.”

But, as the action swung from end to end and the score began to resemble a Rugby one, Lee, like us, was a little bemused by it all explaining,

‘It was a strange game though. It was very enjoyable at times and not so much fun at other times, but we’ve had a great Christmas with six points and hopefully we will kick on again in the New Year.’
