We`ve already mentioned this week that Shaun Batt was hoping his wonder goal at Swindon would earn him a starting place this Saturday.

With Andrew Crofts not available after playing for Gillingham in the first round, Darren Ferguson has to decide who to replace him with.

With Chris Whelpdale, Charlie Lee and Shaun Batts all in contention, Darren has a hard choice to make.

Speaking about the choice, in his pre-match press conference, Darren has remarked to a local media vehicle,

‘Shaun has played himself right into contention, not just because of that goal, but because he’s delivered several other good impact performances from the bench.

‘He’s a real threat because he stretches teams with his pace. He’s also very awkward to play against and I’m very happy with his contribution, especially when you consider where he has come from.”

Shaun himself has also remarked about the possibility of starting and Tranmere in general,

‘I came on as a substitute against Tranmere for my debut and I had a couple of chances to win the game late on so it would be great to put that right tomorrow.”

‘But Tranmere looked a good side that day and we will have to be at our best to get past them. From my own point of view I’m happy to be involved whether it’s starting or as a substitute – you have to be ready to give your best for the team however you are used.”

‘I don’t want to be seen as someone who can do well for 30 minutes as a substitute.’

So, who would you start with, Charlie Lee, Chris Whelpdale or Shaun Bat?
