The injury picked up by Joe Lewis in the England U21 fixture against the Czech Republic has given us all cause for concern.

Lewis has been in fine form for Posh and is one of the first names Darren Ferguson undoubtedly puts on the team sheet.

Reports about whether Joe will be fit for our clash with Colchester, this Saturday, are mixed. However Posh have looked into every eventuality.

If Lewis isn`t considered fit enough to take part Ferguson could turn to James McKeown could be called upon whilst the option also exists to recall Mark Tyler from his loan spell at Championship side, Watford. Another option open to Posh is also a loan signing.

Talking about the injury Barry Fry, our loveable Director of Football, had this to say,

‘Joe came out to save at the feet of one of the Czech players who followed through and smashed him on the ankle”

‘It didn’t look pretty and it was seriously worrying to see him stretchered off. It was a real heart in mouth moment given how well Joe has been playing lately, but thankfully the news got a lot better as the night progressed.”

‘Our goalkeeping coach Andy Dibble was at the game and spoke to the England medical staff who are sure Joe’s ankle is only badly bruised.”

Returning to our earlier paragraph relating to the options open to Ferguson, Fry had this to say,

‘What happens if Joe doesn’t make it will be up to the manager.

‘We can get Tyler back if we need to and we also have McKeown, but the manager could decide to bring someone in on loan and he would certainly be backed if that was his decision.

‘Hopefully that won’t be necessary as the indications are that Joe should be fine.’

Let`s hope so, Joe`s been an absolute star this season.
