Posh – Lewis Set to Bounce Back!

I never like to see goal keepers criticised!

It`s the one position on the pitch whereby mistakes suffer the ultimate fate, humiliation in the public domain. A centre back can make an error but wait for a team mate to recover the situation, a keeper cannot.

Whether Darren Ferguson was right to have a dig at Joe Lewis on Saturday isn`t up for debate. What is, is that Joe Lewis has chosen to have his say and put what happened behind him by remarking to the local media,

‘I actually felt I played quite well at Leeds, but of course goalkeepers are remembered for errors rather than saves.”

‘That’s part of a goalkeeper’s life and I just have to pick myself up and move onto the next game. No-one can change what has happened in the past.”

‘The first goal at Leeds was my fault. The wall did its job in protecting half of the goal and although the lad hit the free-kick well and it moved a bit in the air I should have held on to the shot.”

‘I had a good chat with the manager on the way home and he was great about it. He still believes in me and that’s important to know.”

Confidence is what it`s all about and we`re sure Joe has it in abundance and will bounce straight back.
