Posh – London Road Pitch Condemned!

With Jim Gannon having already stated that we don`t have the quality on the pitch, or depth, to stay in the Championship, could we have unearthed a secret weapon?

As a youngster, I can recall when FA Cup draws were made, with fixtures played in the middle of the winter, pitches being described as great levelers. Higher league sides were a little apprehensive about venturing to a lower league ground knowing that the pitch would, quite often, be devoid of grass, ankle deep in mud and not conducive to decent football.

Now London Road may not quite be devoid of grass or ankle deep in mud but it is fast establishing a reputation as the poorest playing surface in the Championship.

On Saturday, the Coventry City players moaned about it and ahead of our clash with Sheffield United this evening, the Sheffield United manager, Kevin Blackwell, has already had his say, remarking,

“There`s more chance of a Premier League footballer behaving himself than there is of playing football on that pitch.”

Like we said, it`s a great leveler, come on Posh!
