This season, in a year that saw us return to the Championship to play it the second tier of English football was, by all intent and purposes, going to be a fun time.

Instead it`s slowly descending into something akin to a tragedy.

Already this season we`ve lost the best young manager in English football and now the mutterings are about our owner selling up and walking away after receiving unjust criticism from home supporters.

The situation has gotten so bad that Barry Fry has chosen to issue a warning relating to the possible departure of Darragh MacAnthony implying if Darragh were to go then Peterborough United Football Club could go down the pan.

In an interview with The Evening Telegraph Barry commented,

‘The bottom line is that if Darragh goes so does Peterborough United and that’s something every single Posh fan should think very carefully about when they are next tempted to have a go at him.”

‘We are talking about a man who has pumped £10 million of his own cash into the club with £5 million of that going on the playing side.”

‘This club was dying under me and it will certainly die if the chairman gets fed up and leaves.”

‘And believe me he is not a happy man at the moment.”

‘For him to suffer the abuse he did at the last home match is simply a disgrace and when we identify the man responsible we will ban him for life.”

‘Our chairman deserves the respect and admiration of every single Posh fan for what he has achieved at their club.”

‘Without him we wouldn’t have seen so many quality footballers playing so much quality football on the way to successive promotions.”

‘And if he walks away I can’t see who is going to take the club on in these difficult times.”

‘Peterborough is full of big mouths with plenty to say, but none of them stepped in and helped us out when we needed it and I know that will be the same in the future.”

‘I certainly wouldn’t be able to take it on again.’

As we said, no stones left unturned and if that`s what it takes to correct the situation then so be it.

Darragh MaAnthony has the full support of this site and we recognize what a wonderful contribution he`s made to this club.
