Posh survived an injury scare that could have seriously impacted upon their chances of automatic promotion.

Our Director of Football, Barry Fry, has let slip that our top scorer, Craig Mackail-Smith was involved in a mishap during training on Tuesday.

Apparently, during training, the team were involved in a five-a-side match when Craig managed to kick the underneath of Charlie Lee`s boot with Barry Fry remarking,

‘It was very sore apparently but he carried on playing for a few more minutes. But he was pulled out and sent off to hospital.”

‘The x-ray didn’t find any damage and Craig was told to ice his foot overnight which he did and it feels much better. Craig tells me he will be fine for Saturday if picked and that’s what we all wanted to hear.”

‘Things like this can be nasty so we are all relieved that he will be okay for the Colchester game. You can quite easily end up breaking a bone if you catch the bottom of someone else’s boot.’

Let`s all be thankful that all appears to be well, losing Craig, at this stage of the season, would have been a huge loss.
