After having missed some of the pre-season build up due to illness, Aaron Mclean has it all to do to catch the remainder of the squad up.

It`s a fact he`s acutely aware of and speaking to the local media he`s remarked,

‘It was a rough week, but I’m back now and raring to go. I need some intensive training to catch the rest of the lads up, but I’m prepared to do the hard work.

‘I couldn’t play 90 minutes tonight, but I will hopefully see some action and then get ready to do a full game against Fulham on Saturday

‘These friendlies against the big teams are great for the players and the club. It’s another indication of how far we have come that the big clubs will play us knowing they will get a good, hard game.

‘And for the players it’s the chance for us to test ourselves against, and learn from, big-name players.’

They always say that a poor pre-season can affect a players` complete season.

Let`s hope our popular forward can prove that old adage wrong!
