Posh – McLean’s Back!

Posh are currently spoiled with the number of good attacking players we have.

With Craig Mackail-Smith and George Boyd attracting interest from clubs in the higher leagues we`ve also been able to welcome back Aaron McLean after the striker dislocated an elbow earlier this season.

Aaron made his come back, from the substitutes bench, against Brighton and Hove Albion on Tuesday night. Like the rest of the team he drew a blank that night as Brighton defended rigorously.

Yesterday, he was in the starting eleven and responded to the managers` faith in him by scoring a brace. Naturally, Aaron was a happy chap when he spoke to the official site, remarking,

“I was obviously keen to get back in the team and I was pleased to score twice and help the team to a comfortable win. I had been having a bit of banter with Charlie Lee about the first goal – he sensed that he might get the first one and I would be on the score sheet too, so I was extra pleased to get on the score sheet so early.”

“I actually had one or two half chances prior to my first goal but they managed to get a few blocks in so when the opportunity came on 12 minutes I was determined to take it. George Boyd did superbly well and that is what he does, Boydie is Boydie, he`s a class act.”

“The second goal for myself was a bit fortunate but as a striker you want to get your shot away and I managed to get it on target and it has gone through the goal keeper. If you don`t buy a ticket as the saying goes. It is great to play in a team like this because we create so many chances.”

“While I have been out of the team injured I have seen the amount of opportunities that the side have been creating and it is great to be back and amongst the goals. It was a good win and we look forward to Crewe at Gresty Road on Tuesday night and hope to extend our unbeaten run.”

Recalling the silence that fell over London Road when he was carried away with his elbow injury, I`m sure I`m not alone in welcoming back our prolific striker, now if we can keep Mackail-Smith as well, who`s to say we`ll not get those back-to-back promotions we keep whispering about.
