It`s the day after the draw for the 3rd round of the FA cup and suddenly the weekend of the 2nd / 3rd of January has become a whole lot more significant.

Pairing Posh with Spurs, at White Hart Lane, has given us the opportunity to forget the anguish we`re currently experiencing in the Championship and the chance to pull off a major FA Cup shock.

There`s no doubt that Posh will take a sizeable contingent to N17 and that there will be a carnival atmosphere.

Speaking about the draw, some months after describing one of our Carling Cup draws as a rubbish draw, Barry Fry has remarked to the media,

“We’ve had some bad draws in the cup recently, but this one makes up for them because everybody connected with the club will relish going to White Hart Lane.’

‘It will be a cracking atmosphere with a packed house and playing against a side which are one of the best in the country at the moment, so it is fantastic for us.’

Mark Cooper who watched his former side, Kettering, almost pull off a shock against mighty Leeds on Sunday and who may face Manchester United if they can win the replay, has also talked up the tie, commenting,

‘Obviously it’s one of the best draws we could have. It’s a cracking tie and a great opportunity for the players to play against one of the top sides in the country at a great stadium.

‘They have a squad full of quality players and it will be a great experience for us all. There will be no pressure on us at all so we will be able to relax and hopefully play well.

‘But obviously our number one priority is to stay in The Championship so we must forget about Spurs for a few weeks.’

Forget about them – I want a win over Spurs as a belated Christmas present, it`d be worth waiting for!
