Posh ordered to pay compensation

An FA tribunal has ordered Peterborough United to pay Luton Town compensation for youngster Michael Richens.

After a lengthy hearing at Wembley on Wednesday, a four-man panel ruled in Lutons favour.

Richens, who played in last night`s FA Youth Cup defeat by Fulham at London Road, moved to London Road from Luton amongst accusations of an illegal approach last year. This was denied by Posh.

According to www.lutontown.co.uk, Luton claimed that they retained compensation rights for the time Richens spent within the club’s youth programme.

Luton argued that the player had spent three-and-a-half years in one of the country’s most highly respected youth operations during which time Luton had invested significant time and money into his training, medical and personal development.
