Peterborough United have signed Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Alex Pritchard on loan.

Posh Chairman Darragh MacAnthony has again used Twitter to announce the loan signing of the young midfielder who can play on both wings and as an attacking midfielder: ‘Delighted to announce loan signing of Alex Pritchard from Spurs joined until end of season. He is a fantastic young talent.

‘Myself & Gaffer watched this young lad destroy our reserve team couple weeks ago scoring 4 goals from playing left wing/Right wing /att mid’.

The 19-year-old has been at Spurs since June 2009 and has a growing reputation in the game as teams such as Liverpool have shown an interest in signing him.

He is an attacking midfielder so is expected to slot into the ‘George Boyd’ role. He impressed in Spurs XI action in 2010-11 and the early part of 2011-12, earning a call into the first-team squad for the Europa League trip to PAOK in Greece in September, 2011.

He sat on the bench for the opening group match in Salonika but he was a regular in the 2011-12 Spurs XI team and particularly impressed in the NextGen Series, where he scored four goals in seven matches.

Hopefully he’ll make as much of an impact as George Thorne did during his time at Posh.

Welcome to London Road Alex.
