With the departure of Brendan Rodgers at Reading, has an avenue opened up for the recently departed Darren Ferguson?

Rodgers, who was sacked yesterday after winning only five league games during his tenure as manager, was believed, by many, to be second choice for the Reading job when it became available in the summer.

Apparently, Darren Ferguson was Reading`s first choice but, at the time, he was employed by Peterborough Football Club.

Now that is no longer the case, rumour has it that Reading have Fergsuon, and a certain Gareth Southgate, at the top of their Christmas list!
