Darren Ferguson is looking for a reaction to his sides defeat, saying this meeting with Stockport on Saturday is like a ‘Cup Final’.

Peterborough were beaten 2-0 by Millwall on Monday, which meant the gap and their hold on the second automatic promotion spot in League One was loosened, but Ferguson doesn’t want this defeat dwelt on and is looking for a response: ‘You cannot leave players moping around after a result and performance like the one we gave on Monday. That’s why we picked them up at the first opportunity and we had a positive meeting,’ Ferguson told the media.

‘We didn’t have to win at Millwall but it doesn’t take a genius to work out that we do on Saturday. It is an absolutely massive match – a cup final. We can’t afford another performance like the one at Millwall and I don’t expect to get one.’

The Peterborough manager has also called on the fans to play their part and create an atmosphere to help push them on, adding: ‘And the fans have a huge part to play. They have been there all season and were outstanding against Cheltenham in our last home game. Hopefully they can make sure we have a great atmosphere again.’

Do you think that Peterborough can and will put the Millwall performance behind them and respond with a performance and a result against Stockport that leaves them in a strong position to gain promotion to the Championship?
