With the January transfer window open and it having already been declared that Posh will not be signing any players, our transfer window anticipation levels have been dulled.

Thankfully, we`ll also not witness any imminent departures, especially of our much vaunted striking duo of Craig-Mackail-Smith and Aaron McLean.

However, speaking after the draw at West Brom, Barry Fry has implied it`s not hanging onto his players that concerns him but of hanging onto his manager, Darren Ferguson.

Speaking about the situation, Barry had this to say,

“Our main problem is hanging on to Darren.”

“He has been at our club two years and we have improved no end since he walked into the building. He is a great manager, destined for the top. In fact whenever a job becomes vacant his name is mentioned. There`s only been one when his name hasn`t been mentioned and that was Real Madrid – but he will be next year.”

“He is good and has got the team playing the right way, playing good football and creating plenty of chances.”

Also, staying on the subject of Darren, Barry gave us an insight into Darren as a person when he remarked,

“He wants to do it all himself even though I think he should ponce off his old man a few times and get a few loans.”

“Because of his name, he could easily have sat back but in his latter years as a player he took all his coaching qualifications and got them.”

“He went to Warwick University to the LMA management course and he deserves all the success because he`s done his homework.”

“He wants to go into the Premier League and we want him to do it but we want him t take us with him.”

But, we have to ask, if loaning in a couple of players from his dad to prop up, or ensure, our promotion bid was necessary, would Darren modify his prinicples?
