Peterborough United will complete the emergency loan signing of Shaun Brisley from Macclesfield Town on Wednesday.

Brisley has been with the Silkmen since the age of 12 and was handed his first team debut at the age of 17 by former Posh manager Keith Alexander in 2008.

He has since made over 120 appearances scoring 16 goals. His contract was due to expire at the end of the 2012/13 season.

Posh boss Darren Ferguson revealed he tried to sign Brisley three seasons ago.

Ferguson said: ‘We had Shaun here three years ago because we were aware of his potential then, but he was homesick and didn`t fancy coming.

‘We want him here as soon a possible, but I expect him to have an influence on the squad next season.’

The paperwork will be completed on Wednesday and Brisley will meet up with his new team mates on Thursday.

The loan deal is with a view to a permanent transfer in the summer.
