Peterborough United have signed Gareth Bale look-a-like Kenny McEvoy on a youth loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

Kenny McEvoy signs season long youth loan from Spurs - 24-07-2014

Posh finally unveiled the winger that Darragh MacAnthony had spoke about a few weeks ago as 19-year-old Kenny McEvoy signed for Posh on a season-long youth loan on Thursday [24th July].

McEvoy joined Spurs in 2011 and has been a regular in the Spurs Under 21 side as well as featuring for the Republic of Ireland Under 19`s.

It will be McEvoy`s first loan with a number of Spurs fans convinced that he is easily good enough to play a major part in the Posh first team this season.

McEvoy was delighted to have made the move as he said: “This is an opportunity for me to come and try and break into the first team and get some experience under my belt. It is my first loan spell so I just have to try and impress in training. It is good that I have been able to join in pre-season as I can get to know the lads before the season starts.

“I first heard of the interest a few weeks ago, but it has been quite a hectic time because I only really found out for certain this morning [Thursday]. Playing in the youth cup was a good experience for me, playing in front of decent crowds.”

McEvoy follows in the footsteps of Alex Pritchard, Jake Livermore and Danny Rose who have all featured on loan at Posh in recent years.

The Waterford-born midfielder mainly features on the wing and with other newcomers to Posh this season having the ability to play on the wing, it appears Darren Ferguson could well start with a different formation to the diamond he preferred last season.
