Some time back, three to four weeks ago or maybe longer, we ran an article that declared our interest in the Stockport striker, Oli Johnson.

Unfortunately, the trail went cold and Johnson isn`t likely to become a Posh player.

However, in a great interview given by Darragh MacAnthony, in the local Cambridgeshire media, it transpires that Stockport, despite being deep in debt, got just a little too greedy as Darragh explains,

‘We also put a solid £250,000 bid in for the Stockport striker, but again they wanted £400,000 which I thought was madness for a player that played 15 times last season and cost them nothing nine months ago.”

Our thoughts exactly, £400,000 for a player that until October 2008 was on the books of Nostell Miners Welfare, someone`s having a laugh!

Erm yes thats what you do isn’t it, pay over the odds for Conference players then you come to a club in crisis and try to rob them off their two best players for £2 million under the odds! We signed Johnson, we found him, he was Five Live’s find of the season – doesn’t matter how many times he has played, if you don’t pay the asking price you don’t get him.
