Okay, we`ll admit we are no nearer knowing the identity of the striker in question, however, the vibes are promising.

Whilst we may have two of the better strikers in the division in Mackail-Smith and McLean there`s no doubt we`d benefit from a third. The season promises to be a long, hard slog and we don`t want to be struggling, especially with aspirations of promotion, when injuries and suspensions kick in.

Therefore, it`s pleasing to hear Barry Fry boasting to Radio Cambridgeshire, after a period of relative silence, that

‘I’ve agreed everything with the clubs concerned, but the problem is with the players who aren’t keen to drop down. “

‘We’ve started negotiations with two or three so if plan A doesn’t come off we’ve still got plans B and C.’

‘Having said that, the players we’re after are house-hold names and certainly our support will know everything about them.’

So, who are we talking about, anyone care to take a guess?
