Posh – The Mackail-Smith Situation!

Having fired the goals that help to clinch back-to-back promotions, it was hoped that Craig Mackail-Smith could continue his goal scoring exploits in the Championship.

Sadly, a combination of the side struggling and a lack of chances being created have combined to see Craig not even reaching double figures in the league so far.

His fortunes dipped further when Jim Gannon decided to bring in Liam Dickinson and Craig suffered the ignominy of being substituted after only thirty-five minutes in the win over Ipswich Town.

Thankfully, Craig was back in the starting eleven to make an impact on Tuesday evening scoring the winner against Sheffield United.

Talking about the situation to the local radio station, BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, Craig had this to say,

“I just want to be involved with the team and scoring.”

“It`s been difficult the last couple of weeks, but I`m pleased to be back.”

“It`s been disappointing as I had been playing week-in, week-out prior to the new manager coming in.”

“The manager has had his own ideas and I`ve had to bide my time, but to be back in the team was a great feeling.”

However, playing devils advocate, I can`t help wondering if starting with Craig was akin to putting him in the shop window!
