Posh Transfer Update

Following the first two pre-season matches, manager Darren Ferguson has confirmed he may look to bring in one or two new faces BUT he will see how his current squad of players shape up! Could that mean a reprieve to one or more of the transfer listed players?

Nicky Ajose has failed to shine wherever he has played since signing for Posh but he scored a brace of goals against UCD last week so could Ajose be back in Fergie`s thoughts?

There`s been plenty of rumours doing the rounds such as youngsters Kgosi Ntlhe and Jermaine Anderson interesting Everton while Liverpool like the look of Joe Newell! Maybe they`re waiting to sell Suarez before putting in a bid for Newell. Some rumours are just unbelievable!!

Posh have been linked again to Falkirk`s English born striker Lyle Taylor as a question mark hangs over who will fill the boots of Dwight Gayle. Taylor was the subject of a bid by Rotherham but the player turned down the terms being offered by the Millers following discussions with his family. Darragh MacAnthony has confirmed though that Posh aren`t interested in the Falkirk striker.

Other players rumoured to be interesting Posh are Rory Delap, Michael Brown and Paddy McCourt.

Posh have also put in a bid of £850k for Aberdeen forward Niall McGinn according to rumours! The striker bagged 20 goals for Aberdeen last season but again Darragh MacAnthony has confirmed Posh aren`t interested in the player.

One confirmed transfer target of Posh decided against talking to Posh and has since signed for Nottingham Forest. Walsall winger Jamie Paterson signed for the Championship side for an undisclosed fee to the disappointment of Darragh MacAnthony. MacAnthony believed Paterson could`ve come to Posh, played regularly for 18 months then get a move to the Premiership. Sadly it was not to be.

Alex Pritchard v Sheff Weds

Another player to slip the net is former loanee Alex Pritchard [pictured above] who has reluctantly gone on a season long loan to Swindon, who Posh play on the opening day of the season. Posh and Pritchard had hoped to join forces again but Pritchards parent club, Spurs, had other ideas and have sent him to Wiltshire instead!!

Posh are expected to bring in at least one more player but it probably won`t be in time for this weekends match with QPR. A deal was agreed weeks ago but the finer points including payment terms need to be ironed out before Posh can talk to the player concerned. One player that it certainly won`t be is Nahki Wells. Posh did put a bid in for him but Bradford turned the bid down! Advances for Luke Freeman have also been knocked back so Posh are taking it no further.

Six Posh players are currently on the transfer list. Two bids have been accepted for Emile Sinclair but the player couldn`t agree personal terms. According to Huddersfield Town sources, they made an enquiry regarding Gaby Zakuani but the £1 million price tag put them off! Barry Fry has denied this but he did confirm the Terriers did ask after Lee Tomlin.

Another player that has attracted interest is Tyrone Barnett. Blackpool are the team interested and Posh hope to get over £1 million for the player but it could depend on the Tangerines selling their star asset first – Tom Ince!

The six players on the transfer list are: Gaby Zakuani, Tommy Rowe, Tyrone Barnett, Emile Sinclair, Danny Kearns and Nicky Ajose.
