Posh – Two Likely To Leave!

After suffering the heartache of relegation last season, I thought the vultures would swoop long before now to take away some of our treasures.

One of the biggest surprises was that George Boyd agreed to stay after having tasted life at a bigger club, Nottingham Forest.

But now, after the season has started in mixed fashion, the tabloid press are suggesting that two of our stars are being closely watched by bigger clubs and that deals may well be done in the next few days.

The first name being mentioned in despatches is that of Joe Lewis

Lewis, an England U21 keeper, received rave reviews for some of his performances last season, in particular in the FA Cup defeat at Spurs, and it was only ever going to be a matter of time before serious interest would be shown by a Premier League club.

Well that interest has come from Sunderland with the rumour-mill implying that a fee of £2.5 million might swing a deal especially with a Posh source being attributed as having remarked,

“We are ready to sell but the price has to be right.”

The second name being mentioned is Ryan Bennett who cost Posh a club record £400,000 last season when Grimsby eventually decided to part company with their promising youngster.

Bennett, still a very tender twenty years of age, has been watched by scouts from both Spurs and Arsenal and an offer is likely to be made to lure him to a higher class of football.

If it is the case that both are to move on, we can only hope that the deals are done soon enough to enable Gary Johnson to recruit adequate replacements before that transfer window slams shut early next week!
