It`s time to dust off any potential Christmas night hangover, arise early and get yourselves down to London Road, this Boxing Day, to cheer on Posh as they take on Millwall in a League One promotion encounter.

After suffering an emphatic 4-0 reverse at Leicester, last Saturday, a reverse that ended a long seventeen game unbeaten run, Darren Ferguson will be looking towards this fixture to get the show back on the road.

With Gabriel Zakuani not available for selection until January, Darren will be looking to pair Chris Westwood with Craig Morgan at the heart of the defence. Tom Williams is expected to be available again to take up his position at left back allowing Russell Martin to switch to his favoured right back slot.

In the aforementioned defeat at Leicester, Westwood was withdrawn at half time with Posh losing 2-0 but as Darren Ferguson explains, there was little other option,

‘To be fair to Chris he did okay at Leicester, but at 2-0 down at half-time I knew we would have to push forward so I had to go for extra pace at the back to cover the gaps we were going to leave.”

‘Chris is in contention again on Saturday.’

If, as expected, Westwood returns to a central defensive position, then it`s likely that Charlie Lee will return to a midfield berth. However, it`s up front that Millwall will be acutely aware of the threat posed by our striking duo of Craig-Mackail-Smith and Aaron McLean, allied with the attacking threat that George Boyd naturally brings.

It is these three that will need to excel if Posh are to reap all three points on Friday.

But what about the visitors?

Millwall arrive in Cambridgeshire without the injured trio of Danny Senda, Marcus Bignot and Danny Spiller. Their boss, Kenny Jackett, is likely to stick to the same eleven that drew 0-0 with Crew Alexandra last time out.

It promises to be a fair old game and both sides know that a defeat will seriously affect the others promotion chances. After the 4-0 reverse at Leicester, it`s essential that Posh get back to winning ways and here at Vital Posh we can see the home side emerging victors by the odd goal in five, 3-2 to the Posh!
