It was a good day for Posh on Saturday, our win over Walsall coupled with losses for Oldham and MK Dons ensured we closed the gap on the current top two of Leicester City and MK Dons.

However, this Tuesday gives us a monumental chance to really state our case regarding a possible automatic promotion place.

MK Dons visit London Road in a re-arranged League One fixture this Tuesday and a win for Posh will see the gap between us and them reduced to a solitary point. It`s perhaps a key reason why this fixture is being placed in the six-pointer category. A draw would see the status quo maintained whilst a win for the visitors would leave Posh with a mountain to climb.

On Saturday, MK Dons suffered a 3-2 defeat after leading 2-0 up at Carlisle. It`s a defeat Roberto Di Matteo is keen to make sure they bounce straight back with the ex-Chelsea legend remarking,

“I`m angry because we`ve thrown the game away. We put ourselves in a fantastic position and then blew it.”

“We`re all disappointed – players and staff – but now we have to pick ourselves up, go to Peterborough and try to pick up some points there.”

In fact, if you look at the statistics MK Dons have only taken one point out of the last six.

With regards to team news, it looks likely that Posh will once again have to do without left back Tom Williams who is still troubled by his knee, Charlie Lee is likely to once again deputise.

As for our opposition, Di Matteo doesn`t expect to see any new faces available in his squad. Luke Chadwick and Danny Swailes will both miss out through injury whilst Jason Puncheon is suspended after receiving a straight red card recently.

However, Di Matteo may be able to welcome back Jude Stirling who has the capability to be a thorn in anybody`s side.

Speaking about the clash, Darren Ferguson has remarked,

‘It’s a massive game because if we win we will be within a point of MK and still have a game in hand. I know the fans will appreciate this and I hope they will be 100 per cent behind the players.

‘It’s the players who deserve all the credit for the last two years and they have given us an outstanding chance of promotion for the second successive season.’

And our tip for a result, we`ll it`ll be tough but we have this hunch that Posh will emerge winners by the odd goal in three and hopefully in front of a bumper crowd.
