After the narrow, late, defeat to Derby County last weekend Posh will be keen to register their first win of the season. Sheffield Wednesday, a fallen Yorkshire giant, provide the opposition and London Road is expected to be almost full for the encounter.

Vital Quotes:

With Coutts having recovered from injury, Darren Ferguson has a dilemma as to who to select in midfield, a fact he recognizes in his pre-match interview with the local media, remarking,

“I have four very good players in there and I always thought that midfield would be the hardest area for me to select.”

Peterborough Team News:

Darren Ferguson will be hoping that Paul Coutts is available for selection and that, despite from Chris Whelpdale, he`ll have a relatively full squad to choose from.

We anticipate that Charlie Lee will take the right back spot and that Craig Morgan, who missed the Carling Cup victory due to international duty, should oust Pearce frorn the heart of the defence.

Up front Mackail-Smith and Mclean will be hoping to get their familiar striking act back on track for the full ninety minutes after Mackail-Smith`s slow return to full fitness.

Player to watch: George Boyd

George has started the season well with a goal in each of the two games he`s featured in, a penalty at derby and a goal at Wycombe in the Carling Cup, let`s hope he can make it three on the bounce.

Sheff Wed Team News:

Brian Laws is expected to make changes to the eleven he fielded in the Carling Cup and we wouldn`t be surprised to see Wood, Buxton, O`Conner and Jeffers recalled to the starting eleven.

Player to watch: Francis Jeffers

Once considered to be a more natural goal scorer than Michael Owen. Transferred for big money to Arsenal where it all seemed to go wrong. Let`s hope that he doesn`t make a miraculous rediscovery of his scoring form on Saturday.

Match Facts & Stats

Posh are looking to lay to rest a hoodoo this Saturday, it`s 31 years since we`ve beaten Sheffield Wednesday, let`s make sure we put that right at London Road. The omens have swung in our favour though as on the road Wednesday were the team that conceded the most goal in the Championship last season!

Match Prediction:

We`re going for a home win, a competitive game with Posh winning by the odd goal in three! How does that sound?

Next Fixtures:

On Tuesday evening we entertain West Bromwich Albion in a Championship match, let`s hope we fare better than when we tangled with the then Premier League side last season.
