Posh v QPR Preview!

There`s no point in kidding ourselves, we`re in dire straits and the fat lady is already preparing to clear her throat to serenade us with a haunting relegation melody.

After going through two managers already this season, Jim Gannon has arrived at London Road with the realistic attitude of knowing he can`t promise to win sufficient games to stay up but predicting we`ll have a damn good try at trying to get as close as possible.

Gannon, who previously performed a minor miracle in keeping Stockport County up, has had less than a week to assess his squad ahead of the fixture and it`ll be interesting to see how his starting eleven lines up.

Will Gannon stay loyal to those recruited by his predecessor or will there be a drastic shake up? It`s a question that is hard to answer, obviously we believe that Gannon will select the likes of Joe Lewis, George Boyd and Craig Mackail-Smith and we`d hope that Ryan Bennett (our record signing) will be in the starting eleven but as for the remainder, I suppose your guess is as good as mine.

As for our visitors, Queens Park Rangers, once touted as the richest club in England courtesy of their rich owners, they`ve gone through managers with gay abandon. The latest to be handed the poison chalice is Mick Harford.

Axed earlier this season by Blue Square Conference side, Luton Town, a small club where many ex-Posh players now reside, Harford, some would say, has fallen on his feet. However, QPR, despite their apparent wealth, are not amongst the front-runners in the Championship and recent results suggest they`ll not be making the play-offs this season.

More worryingly, Harford has seen one of his leading lights, in Wayne Routledge, sold to Newcastle.

I get the feeling that this is a game that is ideal for Jim Gannon`s first in charge. London Road will be behind the new manager and if we get off to a bright start, if we cut out those defensive errors that have blighted our play in recent weeks an dif we take the chances that will invariably come our way, we could, come Saturday evening, be celebrating a rare Championship win and toasting the arrival of Jim Gannon.
