The news that Chris Whelpdale requires an operation that is likely to prohibit him from starting the season isn`t what Posh fans were hoping for.
It transpires that Whelpdale requires surgery on a hernia problem.
Whelpdale is a dependable member of Ferguson`s squad and his absence could create a void, whether Darren decides to venture into the transfer market, albeit permanently or a loan deal, remains to be seen.
