I first heard the news that Peterborough and Darren Ferguson were parting company on Monday evening.

Sat watching the local news, at 18:00 hours, I was jolted by the announcement, by the presenters, that yet another local football club and its manager had parted company.

After our recent run of form and our current predicament whereby we prop up the table it didn`t take a genius to work out that the club in question was, very probably, ours.

Switching on the PC this was soon confirmed by the array of articles implying there had been a split.

However, what was lacking was conclusive proof. It was all hearsay with no statement from within London Road whatsoever.

And, this proved to be the case for almost next twenty-four hours even though journalists were camped outside London Road trying to get an exclusive or confirmation that the rumours were indeed true.

Finally, as darkness approached last night the club issued a brief statement with a brief explanation as to why there had been such a long delay in breaking, officially, the news, with the delay being explained as thus,

“We wish to assure all our supporters that the perceived delay in announcing the departure of the manager by mutual consent was due to the confidential terms and conditions that underpinned the agreement.”
