Posh – Zakuani in Surprise Comeback?

Gabriel Zakuani could, if we read into his comments right, be prepared to put himself in the firing line against Leyton Orient on Tuesday evening!

Zakuani, who was carried away on a stretcher last Tuesday evening, after landing heavily on his head was expected to be out for a minimum of two weeks.

But on the eve of the trip to East London, he`s quite prepared to put himself through the pain barrier for the Posh cause, remarking to the local media,

‘I would say I’m 50-50 at the moment to play tomorrow, but if the manager wants me I will dose myself up on pain killers and get on with it.”

‘It’s a tricky decision because I would hate to make the injury worse and it’s vital we have everyone fit so we can play our strongest team in the last few matches.”

‘But we don’t have a lot of defensive cover at the club right now. I wasn’t aware that James was leaving on Saturday which makes things very tricky for us.”

Now I`d suggest the crux of the matter is the remark relating to ‘doing further damage`, surely, if there is any doubt, it`s better to miss his presence for this game rather than a possible lengthy delay due to an injury aggravation.
