Three more points slip away as Posh succumb to the form team in the division!

Our baptism of fire in the Championship continues to fail to yield that crucial first win.

Having played four games we`re firmly entrenched in the relegation places with only a solitary point to show from a possible twelve. Three defeats and one draw being our far from wanting to shout about it record.

Going to Deepdale, to take on Preston North End, was always going to be a tall ask, especially when, once again, we conceded an early goal.

There should have been no trouble when Nicholson took the ball to the by-line, he should have been marshalled out of play or his eventual cross should have been blocked or hacked clear, instead it fell invitingly for the ex-Liverpool forward, Neil Mellor to slot home past a dismayed Posh defence.

With the home fans still celebrating taking the lead the game was held for eight minutes after an accidental collision between Nicholson and Boyd saw Nicholson carried off on a stretcher with a broken leg, here at Vital Posh we`d like to wish him a speedy recovery.

Matters got worse for Posh on the half hour mark when Preston doubled their lead through affine strike from Billy Jones that left Lewis with no chance.

Preston could, and should, have improved their goal difference in the second half. Morgan produced an excellent tackle to deprive Mellor whilst Parkin could only fire over from a great position.

It looks like this Championship lark isn`t quite as easy as we`d anticipated.
