Reading 6 Posh 0

Going to Reading was always going to be an awesome challenge.

Under the leadership of Brian McDermott they`ve become a feared team and in doing so have put together an impressive string of results, especially at home.

But, I never dreamed that we`d go there and get absolutely shafted.

After 17 one goal defeats, I sort of thought that we`d been a little hard done by this season but after witnessing that carnage yesterday I`m not so sure.

If we are to bounce straight back there is an awful lot of work to do, work that Gary Johnson will have to get started almost immediately.

Following on from our heaviest defeat of the season, incidentally our 27th loss of the season, Johnson was a little down beat in his post match press conference, remarking,

“I knew this job was going to be a challenge, and next season is our focus but this was a disaster.”

“I`m learning about my players and what character and qualities they have. Today they showed me nothing.”

For the record books, the carnage unfolded as below, I`ll not going to too much detail as it`s still too raw and painful.

1-0 (3 minutes) – Pearce

2-0 (25 minutes) – Sigurdsson

3-0 (29 minutes) – McAnuff

4-0 (44 minutes) – Kebe

5-0 (59 minutes) – Long

6-0 (76 minutes) – Sigurdsson

I`m off to the pub, I need a stiff drink!
