Ref Watch: Bury v Peterborough United

The man in charge of the Sky Bet League One match between Bury and Peterborough United on Tuesday evening is DAVID WEBB.

Lancashire-based official David Webb takes charge of this rearranged match between the Shakers and Posh.

The experienced referee is celebrating 10 years as the man in the middle in the Football League and during that time has officiated 11 Posh matches and 14 Bury matches.

Both sides have won five of those matches and while Posh have yet to draw a match under Webb, the Shakers have drawn five matches.

Webb has already officiated both Posh and Bury this season with both matches coming in October.

The Shakers celebrated a three-one victory over Bradford City in mid-October despite going behind in the 9th minute. Chris Maguire (pen 19), Jermaine Beckford (20) and Jay O’Shea (85) shook the match to the home side as they picked up three vital points. Three yellow cards were shown in the match with two going to Shakers players.

The Posh match was at the end of October when unbeaten table-toppers Shrewsbury Town turned up at the ABAX Stadium. Marcus Maddison scored the only goal of the game after just 14 minutes with both sides sharing 8 yellow cards! One of those yellow cards went to Gwion Edwards [pictured below].

So far this season Webb has officiated 33 matches issuing 75 yellow cards and 2 red cards.

His last match came on Saturday when Chesterfield hosted Lincoln City in a League Two clash. The Spireites opened the scoring just after the half-an-hour but former Posh man Michael Bostwick leveled things on the stroke of half-time. The Imps went on to score two further goals in the second-half to claim all three points while picking up three of the five yellow cards but the match will be remembered more for non-football reasons!

The match was stopped for 30 minutes in the 26th minute so an air ambulance helicopter could land on the pitch after a supporter required medical treatment in the East Stand of the Proact Stadium! The Spireites have since confirmed the supporter has responded well to the treatment.

Webb`s last League One match came two-and-a-half weeks ago when Portsmouth made the long trip north to Fleetwood Town. The journey was worthwhile as they claimed a two-one victory with both yellow cards dished out in the match going to Cod Army players.

The assistant referees for the Bury v Posh clash are Kevin Mulraine and Alf Greenwood. The fourth official is Graham Salisbury.
