Eddie Ilderton will be the man in charge when Peterborough United travel to Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.

The 42 year-old is a self-employed builder from Tyne and Wear. He has been a national list referee since 2002 after serving his apprenticeship in the Northern Alliance and Northern League.

In the same year he was appointed assistant referee for both the Football League Play off Semi Finals and FA Youth Cup Final.

The following year was a referee at the UEFA Regions’ Cup Finals, and has since taken charge of Alan Shearer’s testimonial, a game he describes as the highlight of his career so far.

In all he has taken charge of 26 games so far this season, showing on average just over two yellow cards per game. In total he has issued 58 yellow cards and 4 red cards this season whilst taking charge of a mixture of Championship, League One, League Two, FA Cup and Carling Cup games.

He has refereed both sides on one occasion this season. He was in charge of the first game of the season for Doncaster when they visited the newly opened AMEX Stadium at Brighton. He issued 5 yellow cards during that game with Rovers returning home following a 2-1 defeat.

His sole match in charge of Posh this season was in early December when Posh lost 4-3 to Barnsley. On that occasion, he didn`t issue any cards at all.

He was also in charge of one Posh game last season – the incredible televised 4-4 draw with Southampton at London Road where he issued 5 yellow cards.
