The man in charge of the Carabao Cup first round match between Peterborough United and Barnet is TONY HARRINGTON.

Referee Tony Harrington - Colchester v Posh

Cleveland-based referee Tony Harrington is usually found taking charge of Championship matches but on Tuesday evening, he faces the prospect of officiating in the newly named Carabao Cup, aka the League Cup.

Posh host League Two side Barnet who started their League campaign off with a two-all draw at League newcomers Forest Green Rovers while Posh got off to a winning start with a two-one win over Plymouth Argyle.

Posh have had the pleasure of Harrington on five occasions, two of which were Cup matches. Posh have won three of the five matches under Harrington while losing once.

The last Posh match that Harrington officiated came in October last season when Bury were the visitors to the ABAX Stadium. Hayden White scored an own goal after just two minutes as the visitors piled on the pressure right from the off but Posh managed to turn things around as Chris Forrester equalised after 38 minutes and then Marcus Maddison scored the second Posh goal of the game three minutes into the second-half.

That wasn`t the end of the scoring as a second own goal of the game settled the match as Anthony Kay gifted Posh their third goal. Five yellow cards were shown in the game with three going to Posh players including Shaq Coulthirst who is now a Barnet player.

Barnet have only had Harrington referee then once which was back in the 2015/16 season. The clash at Accrington Stanley was goalless at half-time with both sides sharing four goals in the second-half. The Bees had been two-nil down but equalised in the 90th minute! No cards were shown during the match.

Harrington started his season off at Preston who beat Sheffield Wednesday one-nil thanks to a Daniel Johnson penalty eleven minutes from time. Five yellow cards were issued in the match with three going to Owls players.

Last season, Harrington officiated 34 matches, issuing 121 yellows and four red cards!
