The man in charge of the Sky Sports televised match between Peterborough United and Bolton Wanderers is MARK HEYWOOD.

West Yorkshire-based referee Mark Heywood is in his sixth season as a Football League official and yes, he is the “bottle-gate” referee who sent off Posh midfielder Jermaine Anderson [pictured below] for mis-throwing a water bottle back to the bench!

Posh have had the pleasure of Heywood on seven previous occasions winning three times and drawing twice. Posh have won their last two matches under Heywood while drawing the “bottle-gate” match with Walsall.

The last Posh match Heywood officiated came at stadium:mk at the end of August. Left-back scored his first ever Posh goal after just two minutes before a George Baldock scored an own goal in the second half. Five yellow cards were dished out in the match with just one going to Posh (Paul Taylor).

The last time Heywood refereed at the ABAX Stadium was on the final day of last season when Blackpool arrived facing the real prospect of relegation to League Two. The Tangerines opened the scoring after 16 minutes but the flood gates opened in the second half as Posh finally found their shooting boots. Five unanswered goals from Marcus Maddison, Shaq Coulthirst and a Jon Taylor hat-trick sealed a comfortable 5-1 victory. Four yellow cards were shown with three of those going to Posh players.

The Trotters have only had Heywood referee them twice. The last time was earlier this season when Bradford City held the Bolton to a goalless draw at the Macron Stadium. Heywood showed the yellow card on five occasions in that match, four of which were to Bolton players.

The only other time Heywood has officiated a Bolton match was last season when they celebrated a rare win by beating Brentford three-one. After a goalless first half, Neil Danns, Mark Davies and Craig Davies were all on target but six Bolton players all received a yellow card while no Bees players picked up a card!

So far this season, Heywood has officiated 15 matches, issuing 69 yellows and one red card.

The last match he took charge of was in the FA Cup last weekend at Borehamwood. Despite being two-nil up against League Two side Notts County, the non-league side couldn`t hold on and ended up drawing two-all.

Former Posh trialist Morgan Ferrier opened the scoring for the home side. Seven yellow cards were issued in the match with three of them going to Magpies players. Posh will play the winner of this match in the second round of the FA Cup.

The last League One match Heywood officiated came in mid-October when Port Vale travelled to Sheffield United. The Blades took Vale apart winning the match four-nil. Just one yellow card was shown during the match which went to Vale.

His statistics for the last few seasons in the Football League are:

2016/17 – 15 matches – 5 home win – 6 away win – 4 draws
2015/16 – 27 matches – 9 home wins – 11 away wins – 7 draws
2014/15 – 27 matches – 11 home wins – 10 away wins – 6 draws

His matches involving Posh and Bolton to date are:

Posh – 7 matches – 3 wins – 2 draws – 2 defeats
Trotters – 2 matches – 1 win – 1 draw – 0 defeats

Card Tally For Last Few Seasons:
