Tony Bates takes charge of Peterborough United v Hull City

After having had many rookie referees this season, Posh welcome experienced referee Tony Bates to London Road.

The Staffordshire based referee is in his sixteenth consecutive season in charge of Football League matches and has refereed Posh on fourteen occasions in that time. Of all the Posh matches he has refereed, Posh have won six, drawn two and lost six.

The last time Bates took charge of Posh was early last season when he oversaw the 1-0 defeat at West Ham. The only goal of the game came from a very soft penalty. Both sides received one yellow card as the Hammers Henri Lansbury and Poshs Grant McCann received the cautions.

Hull last encountered Bates at the start of the season when they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at Blackburn Rovers. Only one yellow card was issued which went to Rovers Colin Kazim-Richards.

Bates last took charge of a Championship match on New Years Day when Leicester City ran out 6-1 winners against Huddersfield Town. Town`s Joel Lynch was the only recipient of a yellow card in that match.

That Foxes match was Bates` last match he refereed.

So far this season, Bates has officiated 15 matches showing the yellow card 38 times while sending two players off.
