The man in charge of the Sky Bet EFL League One match between Peterborough United and Rotherham United at the ABAX Stadium is ROSS JOYCE.

Referee Ross Joyce watches Michael Bostwick tackle Steve Morison of Millwall

Cleveland-based referee Ross Joyce has been refereeing since he was 15 and is a referee development officer for the North Riding FA. He became the youngest referee [aged 29] in the Football League when he made his debut at the start of the 2015/2016 season!

Since that debut, Joyce has officiated just one Posh match and a very memorable one it was. It came a year ago when Millwall turned up the ABAX Stadium but went away with their tails between their legs after suffering a 5-1 defeat along with half of the four yellow cards dished out during the game!

Marcus Maddison (6), Paul Taylor (7), Gwion Edwards (20, 52) and Tom Nichols (67) scored the Posh goals with Steve Morison scoring a consolation goal in the 79th minute. What made it unusual was that it was on a Tuesday night! Posh “don`t do” Tuesday nights but they certainly did that night!

The match against Posh will be the first ever time the Millers have had the pleasure of Joyce!

Joyce has already officiated three matches so far this season with a mixture of League One, League Two and an EFL Cup match.

That League One match was the last match Joyce officiated. It came last weekend at Rochdale where Scunthorpe United had to come from behind to draw one-all. No cards were shown during the match.

Last season, Joyce officiated 44 matches, issuing 182 yellows and TWELVE red cards!

His statistics for the last few seasons in the Football League are:

2017/18 – 3 matches – 2 home wins – 0 away wins – 1 draw
2016/17 – 44 matches – 23 home wins – 12 away wins – 9 draws
2015/16 – 29 matches – 15 home wins – 7 away wins – 7 draws

Card Tally For Last Few Seasons:

2017/18 – Games 3 – Yellow 7 – Red 0
2016/17 – Games 44 – Yellow 182 – Red 12
2015/16 – Games 29 – Yellow 106 – Red 6

His matches involving Posh and the Millers to date are:

Posh – 1 match – 1 win – 0 draw – 0 defeats
Millers – 0 matches – 0 wins – 0 draws – 0 defeats

The assistant referees for this match will be Garry Maskell and Michael Webb. The fourth official is Akil Howson.
