The man in charge of the Sky Bet League One match between Peterborough United and Walsall is MARK HEYWOOD.

Referee Mark Heywood leading Posh out v Gillingham

West Yorkshire-based Mark Heywood is another fairly new Football League official. He is in his fifth season in the Football League and in that time has taken charge of both sides on four separate occasions.

Of those four matches, Posh won the first match, a resounding 3-0 victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Boxing Day 2012, drew the next one with Huddersfield Town (2-2) but then lost the last two. The last match came nearly a year to the day when Posh travelled to Kent only to come away with a 2-1 defeat and four of the five yellow cards shown in the match. The winning goal came courtesy of a penalty awarded by Heywood [pictured below] in the 86th minute!

For the Saddlers, they won their last match with Heywood in charge; a 1-0 victory at Rochdale in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy last season. Three yellow cards were shown in the match with Walsall receiving two of them. The other three matches have seen the Saddlers draw one match and lose the other two.

Heywood has taken charge of five matches so far this season with his last match coming at the end of August in the Championship match between Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough. Five yellow cards were shown in the match won 3-1 by the visitors with two of the cards going to the Owls.

The last League One match he took charge of came in mid-August when Chesterfield won two-one away at Shrewsbury Town. Three yellow cards were shown in the match with two going to Shrews players.

His statistics for the last few seasons in the Football League are:

2015/16 – 5 matches – 1 home win – 4 away wins – 0 draws
2014/15 – 27 matches – 11 home wins – 6 away wins – 10 draws
