The man in charge of the quarter final Johnstone`s Paint Trophy match between Peterborough United and Dagenham & Redbridge is MARK HAYWOOD.

Married with four daughters, Haywood began refereeing in 1993 in West Yorkshire. He decided to become a referee after being challenged by a work colleague who was already a match official and afterwards said: ‘I took the course and learnt more in six weeks than I had seen in 28 years as a fan.”

Haywood rose through the West Yorkshire and Northern Premier Leagues to reach the national list of assistant referees in 2002. In 2006, Haywood was promoted into the national list of referees and he has since refereed both the FA Vase and FA Trophy Quarter-Finals, and the 2010 Unibond League Final.

Posh encountered Haywood on three occasions last season when going down 1-0 to Nottingham Forest, 3-1 at Derby County but we did win 1-0 at Blackpool!

The Daggers also had Haywood officiate them but that was only once when they won 2-0 away at Accrington Stanley. Three yellow cards were issued in that game with two of them going to the Daggers.

This season, Haywood has officiated 12 matches issuing 28 yellow cards and three red cards. Just under half the games refereed this season has been in League Two while officitating two League One and two Championship matches.

His last match came just over two weeks ago in the League Two match between Morecambe and Accrington. Stanley won 2-1 while no cards were issued at all.

Haywood has officiated in the JP Trophy this season. Rotherham came away from York with an easy 3-0 victory. One yellow card was issued to both sides.

The assistant referees for this match will be Adam Crysell and Andrew Fox. The fourth official is Wayne Porter.
