Rene Howe is currently on loan with Rochdale, but is hoping that he will be able to break into the Peterborough first team next season: ‘I’ve got three years at Peterborough and I’d like to come back and prove myself,’ Howe told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire. ‘I’ve been playing first-team football at Rochdale and when I get back I’ll be able to go for the regular first-team.’

Howe has played regularly for Rochdale this season and his goals have helped them gain a play-off spot, but even so he admits that he was a bit disappointed to have been loaned out in the first place, but feels it has benefited him, he added: ‘I did feel that (disappointment) but the team were doing well and Aaron McLean and Craig Mackail-Smith were forming a good partnership.

‘I thought, ‘I need to get some games under my belt for next season’ and I’ve done it and improved in every game I’ve been at Rochdale.’

The 21-year-old has scored nine goals for Rochdale so far this season.

Do you think that Howe has a long-term future with Posh, or will he have to go out on loan again, or even move on permanently in order to achieve the first-team football that he wants?
