The Football League have confirmed that they will bring back seven substitutes from next season.

Following proposals by Derby County and Birmingham City, a vote has been taken during the Leagues summer conference which is currently taking place, to bring the ruling back.

Last year, the 72 League clubs voted to reduce the number of players in match-day squads in the Football League, but many managers were unhappy at the change, including Posh boss Darren Ferguson.

Fergie was often left frustrated about a lack of opportunities for players on the fringes of the first team and the youngsters coming through because of the limited number of subtitutes he could name for each game. By increasing the number of substitutes available, it will allow these players more opportunities.
