There was mixed reaction from the Middlesbrough v Peterborough United game that finished in a 1-1 draw.

With defeats to Southampton and West Ham, Middlesbrough knew that a win would take them level on points with npower Championship leaders Southampton.

Despite dominating the match, they could only draw their 7th home game of the season.

‘That felt like a defeat,’ Boro boss Tony Mowbray admitted.

‘We dominated the game for long spells, we had I don’t know how many efforts on goal and we hit the woodwork twice so of course we come away frustrated.

‘We had in mind that Southampton and West Ham had both lost but we’ve said before, it doesn’t matter what the other teams do, you still have to go out and win your game and we didn’t do that.

‘They will be feeling like they have won the game after their late goal but we’ve been there ourselves. We’ve won games with very late goals in the last few weeks so we know how it feels.

‘Credit to them, they kept going and changed it late on and got something and to be fair, our keeper had to make more saves than theirs did. We really needed to kill it off when we were on top but they were difficult to break down.’

Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson admitted he was delighted with the late fightback and the share of the spoils.

‘We are very pleased with the point.

‘Looking at the balance of the play out there we have to say we probably didn’t deserve it but the team kept going and kept working and they got the reward.

‘We are doubly pleased because we know that Middlesbrough are a very good team. We had played them twice before this season already so we knew they had quality and what to expect.

‘They made it hard for us and had a lot of possession so to come away with a point is very pleasing. It was a good day’s work.’
