Peterborough United last night sacked manager Grant McCann but was it the right or wrong decision?
It is without doubt that as a player, Grant McCann was a legend at Posh and after making a lightning start as caretaker boss when taking over from Graham Westley, it looked like he might have the midas touch as a manager as well.
Sadly, after nearly two years in charge at Posh, he hasn`t been able to light the touch paper to send Posh soaring back to the Championship and after four draws on the bounce and just two League One victories in their last ten games, Chairman Darragh MacAnthony reluctantly called time in the hope that a change in manager will help Posh sneak into the play-offs.
In order to do that, Posh will need to go on a winning run similar to the one they started the season with which saw them reach the top of League One. Can they do that in their last 13 matches of the season?
They will certainly need to improve on the performance from the weekend draw with Wimbledon. Are most of the Posh players so out of form or was it a case of the players not playing for McCann? Whatever it may be, caretaker boss David Oldfield needs to work miracles starting from tomorrow when Posh entertain Walsall.
Opinions have been divided between Posh fans over the sacking of McCann but we have been disillusioned for a few weeks and after the latest draw thought McCann had lost the dressing room.
The following are other opinions from fans across the globe regarding the departure of McCann:
Some of those players need to take a long hard look at themselves. I can`t remember ever being as angry about something that has happened at this football club. #pufc

What I do agreed with is the timing as @theposhofficial are still in the mix for playoffs. A good run and a new Injection of energy and creativity this can still be achieved, so it will be interesting who is appointed next. #posh

Being a club legend so shouldn`t be sacked is akin to “he runs around a lot/he really puts in the effort”. If you`re not good enough, time to go. #pufc

Correct decision to release @grantmccann11 imo sure he’s a great guy loved by many but he has shown he does not currently have the experience to deliver the expectations of @DMAC102 and many of #pufc fans. The tweet referring to his wife is absolutely disgusting @DE180Y

Have to say disappointed to see that McCann has gone. Personally think we should have given him a lot longer. Rome wasn’t built in a day. #pufc

Very sad but correct decision now bring in Steve Evans #pufc

I hope we have an appointment lined up. Then I hope we produce some better performances, and give it a much better go at getting top 6. But if it doesn’t happen, that doesn’t mean it was wrong to sack McCann #pufc

@theposhofficial why give Grant his first job then bottle it when it looks like we might miss out on play offs? Needed to give at least 3 seasons to let him learn and then create something. Shame. #pufc

Players need to take a lot of responsibility for this sacking. Believed their own hype and bottled it. But time to move on! #pufc

Still with a slim chance of making the play offs. Dmac will be hoping the new man can come in with that ‘new manager factor` and nip into 6th spot. Season is still alive, UTP! #pufc

Never nice to see anyone loose their job but this was definitely for the best. I’m struggling to think of any improvement that’s been made during his reign.
Also if you’re unable to seperate emotions and sentiments from the game then it’s not the game for you. #pufc

McCann wasn`t my choice and wanted him to be given chance til end of this season, but don`t forget, we will be here long after the next manager, Dmac, and everyone else at the club
The club is the thing
We move on and have to trust in Dmac to make the right appointment #pufc
