Welcome to the next Posh Weekly of the summer as we look at the latest news coming out of Peterborough United, what their rival teams in League One are up to and general footie news.

For the first time in a number of weeks, Posh saw no new players arriving but three players did depart the club. Other than that, it’s been a very quiet week this week.

BACK TO WORK FOR FIRST TEAM SQUAD

It was back to work for Posh this week as the first team squad returned for pre-season training. The squad featured nine new faces but not all the players trained together. A number of transfer listed players who are close to moving clubs trained away from the rest of the squad.

After the initial get-together, the squad then travelled to Nottingham University for 2 days of intense medical testing. Training will resume again next week at the Mick George Training Academy in Oundle Road before they have their first pre-season match at Stamford AFC on Wednesday.

Watch what Paul Raynor and Ryan Tafazolli have to say about the first day of training.

SECOND PORTUGUESE MATCH ARRANGED

Posh have arranged a second friendly during their week away in Portugal. The first team squad go away during the week commencing Monday 16th July and will face CS Maritimo on the Wednesday, a side that finished seventh in the Primeira Liga last season.

The second match that’s now been arranged is against Portuguese third division side Louletano on Saturday 21st July (11 am kick-off).

You can gain free admission to both matches with the second match taking place at the Estadio De Nora in Ferrieras, Albufeira.
