The season has yet to finish but it hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from starting up!

The final League game of the season takes places at the weekend but that hasn’t stopped rumours from starting including players being linked with Posh.

Posh fans are widely expecting the departure of star striker Jack Marriott after a number of Championship sides have registered their interest in a player who has struck 33 goals so far this season. Marcus Maddison could also make a move up a level with a few clubs looking at the playmaker but will they offer enough to tempt Posh?

A number of other Posh players will also be leaving the club as Posh look to revamp the squad ahead of next season but who will be coming in to replace those players?

A few rumours have surfaced so far with players linked to Posh including three strikers. Two strikers have been playing in League Two this season with one featuring in League One and who made an appearance against Posh on Saturday!

That League One striker is actually owned by Premier League side Huddersfield Town. Jordi Hiwula is the striker in question and at 23 years old has yet to play for the Terriers since he joined them in 2015. He has spent time out on loan at Wigan Athletic, Walsall, Bradford City and Fleetwood Town. He spent all of last season on loan at the Bantams scoring just nine goals in 41 appearances while he has a similar strike rate in his time at the Cod Army scoring eight goals in 42 appearances which included 21 starts.

Steve Evans likes a target man and it is believed one of the men on his shortlist is Port Vale’s Tom Pope. Vale have struggled in League Two this season and sit in 19th place, just four points away from the relegation places! Pope has been Vale’s star man though after hitting 19 goals and was always difficult to play against when he featured against Posh. He would certainly be useful at Posh but at 32 years of age, he would surely be too old for Posh to consider.

The third striker linked with Posh, and surely this is laughable, is one who currently plays for Evans’ old side Mansfield Town. It’s not their top scorer Danny Rose who has 17 goals so far or Kane Hemmings who has 14 goals to his name but their third top scorer this season Lee Angol! Apparently, Evans is an admirer of the 23-year-old and believes he is coming into his prime!

As soon as we hear any more rumours or confirmed signings, we will bring you all the news and gossip.
