Peterborough United have offered Lee Tomlin a new extended contract in an attempt to stave off interest from other clubs.

Lee Tomlin

The 24-year-old had a good season in the Championship last season scoring 13 goals while forming a deadly partnership with Dwight Gayle who has now departed for Premiership-bound Crystal Palace.

There has been interest in the midfielder-cum-striker from Championship clubs following Posh`s relegation to League One at the end of last season.

Having lost Gayle, Posh are determined to hold on to their other star striker, especially as they are having difficulties in finding a replacement for Gayle and may have to rely on their transfer listed forwards when the season kicks off in just over two weeks.

An improved long-term contract has been offered to the player Posh signed in 2010 from Rushden and Diamonds. Tomlin is now “considering the offer”.

Let`s hope we convince him to sign as we don`t want to see another top player leave for nothing.
