Influential Peterborough United forward Lee Tomlin has been ruled out of action for 3 to 4 weeks following an injury he sustained at the weekend in Posh’s narrow 1-0 defeat by West Ham United.

Tomlin, who had been off-form in recent matches started the West Ham game on the bench. He came on as a half-time substitute and was a constant threat to the Hammers; setting up a number of chances including a guilt edge chance for George Boyd who fired wide of the goal despite only being 6 yards from goal!

Manager Darren Ferguson said: “Lee thought he heard a crack at the time and the doctor initially felt there might have been a break.

Scans have confirmed that his ankle injury is not as serious as first feared.

Ferguson continued: “Had that been the case it could have meant 10 weeks out, so we are relieved the injury has proved not to be as serious as it initially looked.”
