What a nail-biting night that turned out to be!

Sat next to the radio, thanks to having to sacrifice a trip to Prenton Park due to an inflexible shift pattern at work, I all but turned the radio off as the ninety minute mark passed by without us equalising, thank goodness I didn`t.

It just goes to show that perseverance pays and our never-say-die attitude has seen us reach the third round (proper0 to engage Premier League opposition in the shape of West Bromwich Albion.

With the team changed round slightly due to injury to Martin and the non-availability of Crofts, Posh put on a performance that warmed the cockles of the heart.

In fact, listening to the action we didn`t deserve to go 1-0 down when the Tranmere skipper, Anthony Kay, headed home a couple of minutes into the second half.

Many a team would have simply buckled and fallen apart in the ensuing minutes but Darren Ferguson has got Posh playing with an inner belief that can never be broken and with the clock running down and the last few seconds of stoppage time remaining, Aaron McLean produced that equaliser.

Normally, switching from late shifts to early shifts requires an early night but if I couldn`t be at Prenton Park there was no way I was going to retire early and so we pushed on to extra-time.

Just as this crazy tie looked as if it was going to penalties, and with a mere six minutes left on the clock, Charlie Lee`s long range shot was turned in by top scorer Craig Mackail-Smith.

At that moment I wished I was there, I wished I was on those terraces and enjoying the dance of delight, hell, I`d even enjoy the drive home after such a comeback.

Instead, I retired to bed and tried to get some slumber but no chance, with West Brom on the horizon, I`ve got a trip to plan thanks to those two strikers of ours, Craig Mackail-Smith and Aaron McLean, cheers boys.
