Results finally started to pick up in December which saw Posh end the month win three wins out of four matches over the Xmas and New Year.
The month started off poorly as Posh`s bad form continued which resulted in a 4-1 trouncing by Blackpool.
That defeat forced Fergie into changing some personnel in the starting line-up which almost paid dividends straight away. A narrow 3-2 defeat to promotion chasing Middlesbrough brought an up-turn in performances which saw Posh break the home record of Cardiff City who had won all of their home games prior to Posh turning up.
A magnificent performance and result in the Welsh capital saw Posh come away from the Cardiff City Stadium with all three points?although the result flattered the home side!
Posh then went on to stun last seasons Premiership relegated side Bolton Wanderers by going into a 5-2 lead with just five minutes of the match remaining before letting their visitors back into the game. Posh did manage to hold onto their deserved lead to come out 5-4 winners.
Next up was a Boxing Day trip to another team that were relegated from the Premiership last season. Wolves hadn`t had the best of seasons but their fans were confident they could easily turn over little Posh especially as Posh are notoriously bad in Boxing Day matches!! It was Posh that turned on the style to keep a clean sheet while putting three goals past their more illustrious hosts.
Posh were now on a roll. Three winning matches in a row saw them move off the bottom of the Championship but they now faced a trip to the team that had replaced them on the bottom. Surely Posh could keep up their remarkable form and gain three move vital points?
Sadly not. An awful start saw Bristol City take the lead after just two minutes before Lee Tomlin decided to take a swing with his arm at the defender pushing him. Unfortunately for Posh and Tomlin, the defender took a dive and rolled around pretending to be in agony!! A red card followed straight away which now means he is currently serving a three match ban. Posh did put up a fight but only temporarily. George Boyd was felled in the box for a penalty but the goalkeeper didn`t see red for his actions! The penalty was coolly put away by Grant McCann but that was the last highlight of the match for Posh until Dwight Gayle struck yet another goal for Posh but it was too little too late.
So Posh finished the year on a sour note as they dropped one place to 23rd in the Championship but at least they weren`t bottom for the start of 2013.
