Who has won the latest Posh Player of the Month poll for February?
Posh remained unbeaten during the month of February with two wins and three draws capping off a good month. It also saw them reach the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy final after defeating Swindon Town on penalties after the two-legs ended 3-3 overall.
The month started off with the first leg of the JP Trophy area-final at London Road. Posh raced into a 2-0 lead after just 14 minutes but the visitors dragged themselves back into the match on the half-hour mark through a goal by Nile Ranger before a calamitous own goal by Shaun Brisley on the stroke of half-time leveled things out.
Posh then faced a daunting trip to Leyton Orient who had been in the top two all season. It was a good display from Posh but it looked as though Posh would go home empty handed as a goal against the run of play gave the O`s the lead with just twenty minutes remaining. However, Posh staged a dramatic come back with two goals in the final two minutes from Tommy Rowe and Britt Assombalonga.
Next up was play-off rivals Walsall who turned up at a windswept, rainy London Road and battled out a goalless draw on a truly awful pitch.
The second leg of the JPT followed soon afterwards which saw another draw between the two sides. Former Posh loanee Alex Pritchard put the hosts one-up before a Britt Assombalonga header from a Michael Bostwick cross equalised matters. Posh went on to win the penalty shoot-out 4-3.
The final match of the month saw Posh travel down the A1 to Stevenage. They put up a battling performance which culminated in Nicky Ajose notching his 16th goal of the season.
